The Difference Between Hunger and Craving

Sometimes we want food because we are physically hungry. Sometimes we simply want something we enjoy.

Cravings can be connected to preference, memory, emotion, routine or many other experiences. Hunger can also feel different for different people. Neither needs to become another rule you have to follow perfectly.

Instead of asking whether a feeling is “valid,” try noticing what is happening with curiosity. You can learn about yourself without turning every eating decision into an analysis.
