Why Food Guilt Happens
Food guilt doesn’t appear out of nowhere.
It can grow from messages that divide food into rules, rewards and mistakes. Over time, those messages can become internal expectations. You may notice thoughts such as “I shouldn’t have eaten that” or “I need to make up for it later.” When eating becomes a test of discipline, guilt can follow—not because you did something wrong, but because you learned to judge yourself through food.
The goal is not to remove awareness. It is to create enough space to notice what you feel without turning that feeling into punishment.
